Can you Go Glamping in The Winter?

You’ve probably ruled out camping in the winter, but have you ever thought about glamping?

At Hill Farm, we quickly realised what people were missing out on - winter glamping. When our first winter guests rocked up, armed with blankets and strings of lights to set up camp in our beautiful bell tents, we knew it was magic. They sat out under the stars, wrapped in cosy layers and hot water bottles, while steam rose from their toastie hot drinks. Winter evenings are long, so they had more time to gaze dreamily into the light-studded night and relax.

Oh, and their hot tub heated up next to them, teasing them, until it was time to get in.

Most people shudder at the thought of camping in winter. Maybe you're nodding your head in furious agreement, or you are reading this post because you are a little bit curious to see if you think you could do it (go glamping in winter)…here are the most common things we get asked:

Is glamping in winter cold?

Yes - outside. Of course, it's chilly 🥶 we can't change the British winter (if only we could flip a switch and turn it off and on as we please). But once inside our cosy insulated and heated bell tents, you are snug as a pup curled up in front of a log fire…

If I go glamping in winter will I be wet and miserable?

Ok, so you've caught us there - the weather is not usually a beautiful snow-covered morning.

But if you don't get a glorious winter's morning, we say, book again for the experience! Just like camping in the summer, sometimes the rain won't stop! So you try again to get that perfect camping or glamping trip…

But rainy holidays are often the most memorable, you end up surprising yourself with muddy adventures, unique escapades and end up spending more quality time with each other. 💚

PLUS, we've made our hot tubs all-weather, so even in the rain, you can enjoy a soak in glamping luxury.

And our top glamping in winter tip is: Pack whatever you need to cosy up, loads of layers and blankets for outside and enjoy the patter of rain outside on the canvas, while you sit smugly, inside your magical and cosy bell tent.

How do I stay warm if I go glamping in winter?

Our gorgeous bell glamping tents are heated with electric heaters, so you don't have to worry about getting cold at night or getting up to re-stoke a wood stove with toes that feel like ice-blocks.

Is there a hot tub?

Yes, each winter bell has its own tub! Woodfired, so you will need a little patience while it heats up, but we do our best to pre-heat and help you out. So you can make the most of it! We are dab hands at getting them up to temperature quickly. We also supply wood to keep it going into the winter night.

So, our question is, would you go glamping in winter?

If you’re still unsure and canvas feels a little too much, then our pods are for you.

They are heated, insulated, and have all-weather hot tubs right outside - if under canvas makes you jump like a jelly bean in hot water stay in a pod!

To chilly nights and warm blankets!
